Min Kyung Kim was born in Seoul, South Korea. She is a current doctoral candidate student in piano performance with Joseph Banowetz and is studying music & medicine as her related field with Dr. Kris Chesky at the University of North Texas.

She started to play the piano at the age of seven and studied piano at Kay Won Arts High School with Kichoung Lee. Min Kyung completed a Bachelor's degree in piano performance with Jung Kyu Kim at Myongji University in South Korea and then earned a Master's degree in piano performance with Joseph Banowetz and did her instrument collaborative work with Dr. Steven Harlos as her related field at the University of North Texas in 2011.

She has won a number of piano competitions including those held by Music Education News Competition, the Korea Philharmonic Orchestra Competition and the Ye Won University Competition in South Korea. She was recognized as an outstanding student in piano performance while at Myongji University and received the outstanding role model scholarship in 2005. Throughout her graduate studies, she has been the recipient of the James T. Rhea Scholarship, College of Music/USC Scholarship, Academic Achievement Scholarships and the Raupe Grant. As a piano teacher, she has taught students for over 10 years in Seoul, South Korea and the Dallas area. She also earned a Piano Adventure Certificate in South Korea in 2006.
